One Down...One More Show to Go!

It's almost December and The Mills Open Studios is now a month in the rear view mirror! For those who were able to make it, we enjoyed a healthy crowd this year with lots of families, great music, and a good time shared by all.

My studio will be open to the public once more this year! The WSK Holiday Market is happening in just a few weeks. Come by, say 'hi', and purchase an almost-last-minute gift of art for yourself, a friend or loved one:

WSK Holiday Market

  • Location: The Mills, 24 Water St. Holliston MA
  • Date/Time: Saturday December 13th, 11am - 4pm

Pro Tip: If the weather is nice, park in either the public lot on Exchange St. or near Blair Square and walk over...it's about 5 minutes away and much easier than parking at The Mills.

Adventures in Photojournalism

This past October, while Gabrielle attended a playwriting workshop, I wandered among the folks and families who had congregated downtown for the No Kings Rally. It was a sunny day, the crowd's energy was a radiant display of peaceful protest, and the overall vibe was that of living, breathing democracy in action.

It took about 5 minutes before I started taking photos. And the image above was published the next day in The Berkshire Edge as part of a cover story about the No Kings Rally across Western Mass.

For me, the entire experience was a huge learning opportunity. My current work is heavily weighed towards landscapes, objects and abstraction. Stuff that stays still. A crowd is very dynamic, and I think a good photo has to find the larger message in a smaller sample of people...unless the message is that there's just a lot of people behind it.

This Thanksgiving I'm feeling very grateful for everyone who strives to keep Democracy alive.

Looking Forward to 2026

2025 has been a transformative year in many ways, personal and professional. One of those once-in-a-decade years when life just clicks a bit differently, and new worlds of possibility arrive at your doorstep. It's Thanksgiving weekend, and I have a lot to be grateful for. I hope I see you in person in December...if not...be well and I look forward to sharing more adventures with you in 2026.

My best work is often found between the couch cushions of a larger journey. I've found that having some soft boundaries brings the mental...
